A little independence empowered

I was recently told about a Seattle Icon that, at first, I thought had to be more myth than real. After some research and reaching out to some friends who were locals at the time, I learned this legend was real! Eclipse, a black lab mastiff mix, took herself to the dog park in Seattle on a regular basis, by bus. I lived in Seattle for three years and used the bus system as my primary method of transportation. There were frequent pet owners with their pets on the bus, usually dogs and cats heading to the vet. All of them were always with their owners though, not once did I see a dog ride alone. I have my doubts it was really in the rules, or part of the process, to have dogs take themselves to the dog park. I love how everyone around this dog empowered her to do this, the bus driver, the other passengers, and the Seattle Public Transit.
